Background

Bolivia experiences flash flooding yearly, causing a newly constructed vehicular bridge to close. There was an immediate need to protect the bridge and the river banks against accelerated erosion.

Why CMI

CMI value engineered the original gabion design using ShoreGuard® vinyl sheet piling to avoid costly maintenance. ShoreGuard® was chosen because it could be installed quickly before additional erosion could take place.

Installation

ShoreGuard®, being 83% lighter than similar steel profiles, was set and pressed in using an excavator. The project was completed in less than three months, succeeding in avoiding any additional erosion.
